Cute as a button!

Analise is hosting a button challenge! What a fabulous idea! Who doesn't love buttons? I've loved buttons since I was little. My aunt used to give me cookie tins full of buttons that I would sew them onto fabric scraps and make little pillows. Then one day became a teenager and threw all of my buttons out (little did I know!). I could take pictures of these little cuties all day but I hand picked some of my favorites!
Pearl buttons are my all time fave! But, there are also bakelite and colorful buttons...

...pretty, pretty rhinestone and clear buttons...
...button cards...
...more pearl buttons in fun shapes...
...blue buttons...ooohhhh....
...and more pearl buttons....

That was fun! Can't wait to see everyone's buttons!

I just realized today that this is my 49th post! I think for my next post I will have a giveaway. Have few ideas for what it may be. I know it's not my 100th post but what the heck...stay tuned...

Chair anyone?

I was going to do a post today on my ironstone collection and as I was taking some pictures I got the sudden urge to go to my favorite antique shop. They have a great assortment from quite a few different vendors. Every time I go, I know I will never come home empty handed. The first thing I found were these little chairs. Aren't they just yummy!? They are old place card holders.Look at the little forget-me-nots tied onto the back...The little velvet seats are in either red, sage green and a pretty pink. I listed some in my shop. I have a ton but am not sure how many I'm willing to let go just yet.

I think they would make cute pin cushions.

Found this cute little metal basket and a girl can never have enough buttons right!
Some of the vendors also make some of their own items. I had seen this little pin cushion the last time I visited and was happy to see it was still there. Also found a ledger book and this cute little music book from the 40's.

My post about ironstone I will save for another day. For now, I'm off to get three dirty little boys in the shower...

feeling a wee bit frustrated

First, I hope everyone had a lovely Easter...I know I did! Second, I want to thank everyone in the Hippity swap for all of your beautiful gifts! It was such a treat to come home from Florida and have that package waiting for me! I thought it was so much fun and would love to do another one (hint, hint, Heather)! I do have to apologize for not posting any pictures. As soon as I opened my little treasures I placed them all around the house, but in a cleaning rage yesterday, I packed them all up along with my other Easter decorations. I'm usually not so quick to put holiday decor away, but yesterday was just one of those days!

A friend of mine asked me if I could take some pics of some shelves my dad made for me. She's having her builder make something similar in her living room. I thought that since I was taking pictures of this that I would take some more pictures of some of the other pieces that my dad has made for me. Until...I dropped my new camera and now something is wrong with the shutter. Great huh!? One more thing to add to my mood today! Anyway...She also asked me to finish it for her. Over the years I've gotten pretty good at making furniture looked aged. Not just rubbing paint off with some sand paper but some other techniques I've played around with. So until I figure out what kind of damage I just did to my camera here is what I've taken so far....

We're baaack!!!!

We are happy to be home! Had a fabulous time...everything we did could not have gone better or smoother but it's always nice to be home! We did so many things and took so many pictures but I think this picture from the roller coaster at Disney sums it up... We stayed at the Nickelodeon Hotel...
...visited Legoland...

...went to the zoo...
...fed some giraffes...
...did some cannonballs...
...and some flips!!!!
At Hollywood Studios we were going on line to see the Indiana Jones show and they asked if the boys would like to be a part of the show. They LOVE Indiana Jones! They didn't tell us what they would be doing and of course they were hoping that maybe they would be shooting some bad guys or using Indy's whip...But they had them come up on stage, introduce themselves and then had them say "Lights, Camera, Action". Oh...I was so proud of them...such a "mommy moment" I had!
Now it's back to real life and lots of laundry to do!

Almost a week!!!????

Sorry for not posting! My computer crashed! I have almost no memory left...I guess it's my fault as I have more pictures, websites, etc. stored since I've become an official "blogger". But the good news is that when we get back from our trip, my husband is buying a new one! My husband also just bought me a new camera..."YAE". I had a good camera before but wanted something that was smaller and more convenient to keep in my bag. Well, no offence to coolpix, maybe it was me, but I just could not get that thing to take a good picture! So he bought me a new Nikon. I haven't had a chance to sit down and really learn about it yet but I snapped some of these pictures this morning. I put eggs everywhere! Love them in ironstone bowls! Actually, I love anything in an ironstone bowl!
Speaking of ironstone...I just got this little ironstone tureen in the mail from my aunt. It's a really cute size. I think when we get back from Florida, I am going to put an Easter plant in it!
Does anyone have this rabbit? I got it at Target about 7 or 8 years ago. It's huge...about 18" tall. It so vintage and expensive looking and I think it was only $20!

Now this little bunny is my fave! He's tiny. I got him about 10 years ago when I was working in the city. I bought it from ABC Carpet. If you have never heard or been to that store it is truly amazing! I don't remember how much it was but I remember thinking "OH MY GOD" when I saw the price. I couldn't stop thinking about him though so I waited to go back after Easter hoping it would be on sale and it was. But I think I still paid something like $40 for it. Years later I realized that is an original signed Teena Flanners! So that's why!

Aren't these sweet!? They were my mom's!

This bunny came along with the ironstone dish that my Aunt sent. Last year she sent me the basket behind him. I just realized (and bet she didn't either) that they match.

Okay, now I really have to get off this computer and finish getting ready for Florida. I have an issue with having to make sure that the house is very tidy before we go! The last two times we went to Florida we were woken up by the limo driver knocking on the door. Needless to say, the house and us were a huge mess! I am almost afraid to go to sleep tomorrow night!

I {heart} tags!!!!!

First off, I have to say "wow!" Three days of posts in a row for me is huge! But lately I have a lot I want to share. So today I wanted to share some pictures of tags that I've been making. Tags are my favorite thing to make. I've been making them for years and used to sell them on Ebay. I'll always make one to put on a gift that I'm giving and it just makes it a little more personal. Sometimes hanging one on a little knob or on the corner of frame just adds a little something special.
I wanted to make some tags that just had a little extra "something" to it. As I was going through my supplies the other day I thought about selling some things basically to just get a little more organized. Then I thought about adding some of the ribbons, flowers, etc to the tags. I was making them longer than usual so I could fit more on them then realizied that they could also be used as bookmarks!
I have so many of these fabulous paper flowers and with the velvet ribbon, I think they all came together nicely. I've listed them in my shop... some are already sold but there are some left and still more to come...
Now I'm off to register my son for kindergarten...My last one...I'm a wee bit sad about that!

MY MILK GLASS COLLECTION

I've been collecting milk glass for years...I know...who hasn't? Especially because it was so easy to find at garage or estate sales. Anything milk glass that I could get my hands on I would grab. My mother also had alot from the 60's so I had a descent amount. But then I got a little tired of it because it seemed that every where I looked...milk glass! When I moved into this house four years ago, I never even unpacked any of it. Except for this collection...My Vanity Milk Glass.

Little trinket boxes and dishes. These are Victorian and used to have gold paint on the edges. Sometimes you find dishes with some flowers painted on them also. I don't care too much for the gold on the edges so the more warn off the better for me! But they used to be very ornate.

These aren't as opaque as 60's milk glass, you can see the light right through them. They are very delicate and the detail on the edges are beautiful and I think that is what attracts me to them.

I keep it all in my bedroom. This wall was a perfect size to display some of the trays. Four years and not one of them has fallen off...I'm amazed! I keep a lot of pieces on my dresser also and in the early morning my cat jumps on the dresser to wake us up. Unfortunately, some dishes or boxes have fallen to their deaths while Bailey thinks "that will get them up!"

Just thought I would share another one of my obsessions!
